This October 11 to 16, 2023 took place at the Student Employability Support Center, at the University of Fianarantsoa, the “leadership in civic engagement workshop” organized by Tanora Civics Madagascar, a youth support program fianarois on their leadership capacity and aptitude for civic engagement within their community. Madagascar Soap Project had a representative who participated in the workshop.
Convergence of points of view
Manitra-H. Sololalao, the MSP representative shared this after the workshop: “Joining an association/organization is a way to achieve opportunities for young people because it proves their initiative to bring the best change to their community whatever the causes of which they struggle, including the importance of “leadership” and “citizen engagement. I feel lucky to have been a part of this experience and ready to improve as part of my organization. Thanks MSP. Thank you Tanora Civics."

We can see, from this statement, the importance of supporting young people. The MSP organization, apart from its dedication to promoting hygiene and sanitation in rural communities in the South-East of Madagascar through training in artisanal soap making, it also contributes to the employability of young people thanks to its search for talents coming from the University of Fianarantsoa. Thus, it further contributes to the development of their skills and gives the chance to develop their capacity. This is why she did not hesitate to send a representative with the aim of strengthening the performance of her team by using personal knowledge and sharing with other team members.
The community development that MSP brings to rural areas is citizen engagement. This requires a lot of leadership skills, particularly during the learning sessions. This workshop was, then, a more than useful opportunity which allowed us to improve our ways of doing things. Thus, we would like to thank and encourage this type of initiative because it impacts more than expected.
